Killa Burger contest - Entering the Killa Kage

I love fast food, face it the vast majority of us either openly or covertly enjoy it on a regualar basis. It's convinient and tasty enough (far from gourmet), but after a while it becomes a bit monotonous, though. The same old frozen patties, fried up and served on an often stale bun. The worst are the places that serve the premade, crusty sandwichs that have been under a heat lamp half a day.

Thankfully the glorious fast food gods that look over Australia has bestowed a true blessing upon us known as "Killa Burger". The newest fast food joint in Sydney, Killa Burger, just opened their premiere restuarant in the suburb Carramar. Judging from the the amount of people lined up out front at the grand opening last month (crowds haven't cleared out yet) it won't be the only one we'll be seeing in Sydney in the coming years. You can even invest in your own franchise.

So what do I like about this place other than mouth watering "killa beef and chicken burgers, wicked fries, monster nuggets". It's the unique menu items that put this shack a step above the competition. Things like awesome racks o' rib (pork, beef, lamb, and chicken!), fried ice cream, veggie burgers and the Booty Burger (beef, coleslaw, ketchup/mustard, and fries on a bun!) Geniuses!!!

The main attraction that is drawing me back to Killa Burger is the Killa Kage 30cm Burger challenge, and this Saturday I will put myself through the gastronomic gauntlet yet again. This won't be my first eating challenge, but it shall definitely prove to be a tough one. I got to take down a 12" Killa Burger, wicked fries, a serving of fried ice cream, and large soft drink all in under an hour or pay the ultimate price. ($29 and the walk of shame out the door) Finish victoriously and I win some amazing mystery prize and my name along with likeness go straight to the Wall of Fame for all to behold my burger glory.

All and all, it's a very solid lineup for a fast food place, although as an expat from the States this wouldn't be my first encounter with a place like this. Very refreshing for the Aussie fast food culture, though. Different, real quality, fair dinkum fast food served fresh!
